- Ngày 4/12/1953, Quốc hội Nước Việt Nam dân chủ cộng hoà đã nhất trí thông qua Luật cải cách ruộng đất. Mục đích của Luật cải cách ruộng đất là: "Thủ tiêu quyền chiếm hữu ruộng đất của thực dân Pháp và của đế quốc xâm lược khác ở Việt Nam, xoá bỏ chế độ phong kiến chiếm hữu ruộng đất của giai cấp địa chủ, để thực hiện người cày có ruộng, giải phóng sức sản xuất ở nông thôn, cải thiện đời sống nhân dân, đẩy mạnh kháng chiến.
Luật cải cách ruộng đất đã đáp ứng yêu cầu căn bản và cấp bách của hàng triệu nông dân đấu tranh tiêu diệt chế độ bóc lột phong kiến, đưa kháng chiến đến thắng lợi. - Ngày 4/12/1962, khánh thành trạm bơm nam sông Mã ở huyện Yên Định, tỉnh Thanh Hoá.
Đây là một công trình thuỷ lợi lớn, tưới nước cho gần 20.000 hécta ruộng của huyện Yên Định và một phần ruộng đất của hai huyện Thuận Hoá và Thọ Xuân thuộc tỉnh Thanh Hoá.
Vùng này trước đây khô cằn, chỉ cấy lúa một vụ bấp bênh, nay có nước đã trồng được hai vụ. - Ngày 4/12/1965, một đơn vị biệt động của quân giải phóng khu Sài Gòn – Chợ Lớn đã dùng bom và súng máy tấn công khách sạn Mêtrôpôn giành riêng cho phi công lái máy bay phản lực Mĩ, diệt 200 tên phi công lái máy bay phản lực.
- Đường sắt xuyên Việt được xây dựng xong từ cuối năm 1936 trong thời gian có chiến tranh từ 1946 đến 1975, tuyến đường này bị phá huỷ, hư hỏng nặng nhiều đoạn nên không hoạt động được.
Sau khi miền Nam được hoàn toàn giải phóng, thống nhất đất nước, công nhân và quân đội ta đã xây dựng lại tuyến đường sắt Bắc – Nam.
Ngày 4/12/1976 tuyến đường sắt thống nhất chính thức khai thông sau 30 năm bị gián đoạn. Đường xe lửa Hà Nội thành phố Hồ Chí Minh dài 1.730 km.
Đây là thành tích xuất sắc của ngành giao thông vận tải nước ta chào mừng Đại hội đại biểu toàn quốc lần thứ IV của Đảng cộng sản Việt Nam.
