Politics:
-- Vietnamese authorities have reported that they have been spending public budget for the management of Hoang Sa (Paracel) island district of the central city Da Nang, including the collection of images and historical documents and exhibiting them to the public. PM Nguyen Tan Dung has recently announced Vietnam will peacefully claim the Hoang Sa Island which was forcibly invaded by China following military attacks in 1974.
-- The Vietnam’s Sovereign Boundaries Committee of the Foreign Affairs Ministry has officially inaugurated its English-language website to carry official information, report and announcement of Vietnam about its boundaries. The site in Vietnamese language started its public service in 2009.


-- Dane Prince Frederik is on an official visit to Vietnam and met senior leaders of the nation as State President Truong Tan Sang and Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung. Both sides have agreed to come to a Strategic Partnership.
Society:
-- Transport authorities are set to implement measures to pull back 5-10 percent of road accidents, including the strengthening safety standards in vehicles registry, increasing penalties over violated drivers and vehicles’ owners, and suspending driving schools.
-- Price of bus ticket from the Vietnam’s economic hub Ho Chi Minh City to other provinces will hike up 20-60 percent during the traditional lunar calendar festival, Tet which will come in less than two months.
-- Several localities in the central provinces Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh and Phu Yen have still been isolated due to the consequences of recent floods and landslide.
-- Traffic police department in Ho Chi Minh City has passed a regulation, banning its policemen bringing more than VND100,000 (US$4.8) each on patrol. They are also banned from using mobile phones at work.
Business:
-- Vietnam has received 5.3 million international travelers during the first 11 months this year, up 16 percent against the same period last year.
-- At the international trade fair Rice Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, Vietnam has won a contract to export its first batch of 25,000 tons of rice and other agricultural products to the nation, opening another gateway for rice and other agricultural products of Vietnam to the Middle East market.
-- Vietnam and Nigeria held yesterday a conference in Hanoi to discuss chances for import and export of goods between the two nations. In the first ten months this year, Vietnam has exported goods valued at US$51 million and imported $70 million.
Sports:
-- Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) yesterday carried out a meeting to review the loss of the Vietnamese national U-23 football team and came to a conclusion which stated no official or agency in charge of the defeat. Vietnam was beaten 4-1 by Myanmar in the playoff to compete for bronze medal at the SEA Games in Indonesia from Nov.11-22.
