-- Senior officials of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) met in Beijing on December 1 to discuss the further development of bilateral ties
-- Danish Crown Prince Frederik left Ho Chi Minh City on the evening of December 1, finishing his visit to Vietnam on the 40th anniversary of establishment of the two countries’ relations

-- Minister of Transport Dinh La Thang has formed an inspection group to monitor and evaluate the quality of 5 transportation projects including: Lang – Hoa Lac in Hanoi, Cau Gie Highway in Ninh Binh, Thanh Tri Bridge, Thang Long Bridge, and Trung Luong Highway in HCMC.
-- 34-year-old Vu Trong Khanh from Gia Lam, Ha Noi got seriously burnt after he took a phone call near a gas station in Long Bien on November 28. Doctor Nguyen Thong from Saint Paul Hospital told Tuoi Tre Thursday that the area of the burn covered 60 percent of his body’s kin and warned readers again using phone near gas stations.
-- 30-year-old Bui Quang Chung from Thai Nguyen was arrested in District 11, Ho Chi Minh Thursday after he stabbed Nguyen Van Phuc, a police officer from Tan Binh while he was at a coffee house with a friend.
-- 8 fishermen from Vung Tau whose boat, numbered BTh 82944 sunk on November 26 and was later rescued by Singaporean tanker Mearsk Sandra came back to the city safely on December 1. They were floating at sea for three days before being found. 
-- Phan Ba Dung, a 23-year-old security guard at Everich Building in District 11, HCMC was charged with “intentional attack” after he and two other colleagues was involved in a fight with a group of students from Nam Ky Khoi Nghia High school earlier this May.  
Lifestyle
-- “17 hoa si Ha Noi” (17 painters from Hanoi), an exhibition featuring artworks depicting northern Vietnam’s nature and people opened Thursday at HCMC Fine Arts Museum in Ho Chi Minh. Featuring 17 artists of all ages from Hanoi, it will run until December 15.
Sports
-- Disagreement has arisen between the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Central Underwater Sports Association over choosing a coach to accompany swimmer Hoang Quy Phuoc from Da Nang in his training trip in the US for the upcoming Olympic London 2012. Phuoc won two gold medals at SEA Games 26 held last month in Indonesia. 
Business
-- Pham Quang Thu, an official at the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations warned in an interview with Tuoi Tre that if Vietnam does not limit its coal export, it will have to pay a dear price economically and environmentally.
-- National carrier Vietnam Airlines opens its direct flight from Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh to London (the UK) on December 8. There will be 4 flights a week on airplane Boeing 777 on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
-- International sea port Cai Mep in Tan Thanh, Ba Ria – Vung Tau officially opened its operation Thursday. It has received 104 ships from Europe, North America and Asia docking.
