-- State President Truong Tan Sang yesterday handed over his decision to promote rank to nine army and police generals.
-- Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong today left for Cambodia for an official visit to the nation at the invitation of King Norodom Sihamoni.
-- Ahead of the third session of the 8th Ho Chi Minh City People’s Council scheduled to start tomorrow, delegates have proposed to have solutions to limit granting certificates for the construction of multistory buildings and expand the area of car parking lots in the city.
Society:

-- Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has ordered the Ministry of Public Security to launch a campaign against offenders causing public disorder, organized crime and drugs-related crime before and during the traditional lunar Tet festival.
-- A passenger bus plying on its regular route Giap Bat – Cau Gie in Hanoi was shot by two men riding on a motorbike. Luckily, no one was hurt except a window glass was cracked.
-- A 16-year-old girl in the southern province Binh Phuoc committed suicide for disgust and shame after being raped. Local police identified local man Le Tho Toan, 18, as the perpetrator.
-- Over 42,130 people have been killed and 62,160 others injured by bombs and mines left in Vietnam after the US war, according to a meeting titled “Overcoming the consequences of post-war bombs and mines” held in Hanoi. Averagely, Vietnam has 1,530 people killed and 2,270 injured a year by post-war explosives.
-- Authorities of the central Da Nang City has recently refused granting investment licenses to two projects of steel production and wood pulp processing with total investment capital of US$4 billion. Party Secretary Nguyen Ba Thanh cited he has planned to give priority for developments of service and tourism to turn Da Nang to a clean and pilot city of Vietnam.
-- Hanoi authorities yesterday demanded Keangnam Vina company, owner of the apartment building Keangnam, to provide indispensable services to residents of the building after the building owner stopped providing electricity and water and closed down elevator system due to disagreements with residents in prices of the services.
Business:
-- Foreign-invested firms in Vietnam have recently imported Chinese goods and labeled it under Vietnamese trademark to export to other countries for illegally benefiting favor policy of taxation between Vietnam and the other countries.
-- Collection of state budget in the first 11 months this year has reached VND616 trillion (US$29.3 billion), increasing 21 percent against the same period last year, according to the Ministry of Trade. However, total state spending in the period surpassed it, at VND676 trillion (US$32.2 billion).
-- Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology and National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) yesterday signed an agreement for mutual cooperation in natural disaster management, food security, exchange of satellite data on earth, environmental education, human resources and space studies.
-- Industry and Trade Minister Vu Huy Hoang yesterday proposed to ban producing A83 petroleum nationwide.
